Juvo provides merchants with a user-friendly and cost-effective way to accept mobile payments, while rewarding customers through a loyalty program.
Tappr were a startup exploring an innovative EFPOS terminal that integrates payment and loyalty programs, known as Juvo. The system was a portable EFPOS terminal that accepts mobile payments and connects to a merchant’s phone via Bluetooth. Juvo appealed to small businesses, as it offered lower transaction costs and more functionality than other available systems at the time.
The Juvo terminal includes a display, a smart card reader, a magnetic card reader and uses a rechargeable lithium ion battery. It accepts both contact (insert or swipe) and contactless (tap and go) payment methods, while providing merchant loyalty programs through a consumer application. Juvo was designed as a high security system, as it employed AES encryption and was designed to be compliant with PCT PTC and EMV contactless payment standards. Juvo is also visa PayWave and MasterCard Paypass Compatible
Ingenuity developed the electronics and embedded software for Juvo, along with the system which was hosted on an android OS. We were able to supply functional units to be used in field testing.
